- How was the design of the form developed?
– In July last year, a delegation of the Belarusian Football Federation visited the Macron plant in Bologna, where, in fact, a new kit concept was developed together with the company’s designer. We cooperate with Macron under the Kit Assistance program introduced by UEFA. In addition to us, nine European football associations cooperate with Macron. The agreement with the new technical partner runs until 2022.
- What did you want to see in the uniform?
– Of course, we had a desire to put the symbols of our country on the uniform; of course, we wanted to see the logo of the federation. We liked the option of using an ornament on the chest in the previous form, we decided to keep this element, but changed its location and applied it to the sides. In the pattern, as before, the main element is the octocorn, which denotes fire and masculinity. Everything was built around the logo and national colors. We looked at how it would be better, tried various variations and combinations. Each element was added in stages. In the end we settled on this option.
- How is the uniform set compiled?
– The program is open on the computer, the designer works in it. They tell him what they want to see in the end. He tries various options, forms, shows. Some color combinations did not look entirely harmonious. Some elements didn't quite fit. I remember it took a long time to select a place for the ornament. We even considered the option of applying it to the collar, but there’s no point in talking about it now. We made a decision and settled on what the fans see now. It is also important to understand the fact that any kit must be approved by UEFA. The design may seem simple to some, but we have much less freedom here than, for example, football clubs. We can't just take and apply any print. Any additional element must be justified. Like the previous time, there were questions regarding the ornament, but they were resolved.
- Can you remember the names of the designers?
– In general, we were supervised by Francesco Martinelli, marketing manager at Macron. He took part in the presentation on Monday. Our delegation actively communicated with him, almost all issues were resolved through him - from the development of the form to documents and supplies. Francesco was in charge on the Italian side. He also had two designers whom he managed to help him. Macron does not emphasize the name of a particular employee during press releases and presentations of new kits. However, the designers of this relatively young company managed to create personalized kits for such clubs as Lazio, Deportivo, Nice, Sporting, and Stoke City.
-Who participated on our part?
– On our side, the delegation was headed by First Deputy Chairman Sergei Safaryan.
- They were going to present the form in the spring, but they presented it only now. Why?
– There were no delays. Here the question was different: when is the best time for the national team to play in good form? We decided that it would be more expedient to hold spring friendly matches in the old kit, and enter the UEFA Nations League in a new kit, and present the kit on the eve of the team’s start in the tournament.

- Yes. We only added the ornament. Its application on the uniform was approved by UEFA. Of course, they chose from the range of ornaments that exist in Belarus. And the choice was made on the one depicted on the state flag.
It was in this form that UEFA presented the idea of applying additional elements to the uniform. We had to prove that they were not the brand we were advertising.
— Do you think the new national football team uniform will be as popular as the Croatian checkers?
- First of all, I would like it to be as successful as in the cases of the best teams.

If the domestic federation wants to dress up other national teams in Macron - women's, youth, then they will have to pay. The federation planned to conclude a separate agreement for the supply of these items.
There are also plans for a successful performance in the League of Nations, which will give a chance to be included in the European Championship.
What is the League of Nations?
A means of combating friendly matches, the semantic load of which is last years many could not understand. They say that there are few goals and objectives, and players from clubs fail and sometimes get injured.
True, the League of Nations is not only an opportunity to win something, but also a means of qualifying for the upcoming Euro.
In 2020, the tournament format will be quite bizarre. Yes, there will be 24 participants again (for the second time in history), but it will take place in as many as 12 countries. The classic qualifications will be played out in a year, and not in two, as everyone is used to. The continent's 55 teams will be divided into 10 groups, the two best teams from each will go straight to the European Championship.
Four more teams will get there thanks to the Nations League. This is where all the fun is for us.
There are four leagues in the League of Nations. Each league has groups. Our team is now in League D - the weakest. Belarus' rivals are San Marino, Luxembourg and Moldova. Very feasible.
If we win the group, we have the opportunity to compete for the Euro. Four teams from each league will compete in the playoffs. The joints will take place in March 2020. Places for the play-offs will be allocated to each group winner first, and if a team has already qualified for the European Championships, its place will go to the next one best team division.
In general, for the first time, one of the 12 teams that is in the fifth or sixth draw pot will take part in Euro 2020. That is, we have a chance for the debut top tournament in the history of the country.
How did everything go?
