in Moscow, where she won a silver medal in the pentathlon.

Today's time. Stars of the new generation

The last Olympics in Beijing was the luckiest for Tatarstan. In 2008, in Beijing, 3 representatives of Tatarstan won olympic medals. Gulnara Galkina-Samitova from Naberezhnye Chelny became the triumphant of Beijing. The bronze medalist at this distance was the representative of Nizhnekamsk, Ekaterina Volkova. In the 4x400 relay, the silver medalist was Kazan athlete Elena Migunova.
As for the World and European Championships, our athletes “keep their mark” here too. The already mentioned Ekaterina Volkova won the World Championships in Osaka in 2007.
At the 2009 World Championships, it was women who allowed Tatarstan to set a record for the massive participation of our athletes in such a large international forum. Runners Galkina-Samitova, Volkova, Natalya Rusakova, Lyubov Morgunova, pole skater Alexandra Kiryashova, javelin thrower Valeria Zabruskova - six of our athletes were part of the Russian national team!
In 2011, Yulia Zaripova, playing for the national team of the republic, won gold at the World Championship (Korea, Daegu).

For the development of athletics in the republic there are:
