What happened to Sotnikova after the Olympics. “Star disease” of a young figure skater: why Lipnitskaya left the sport

A recently rising star on the sports horizon, Adelina Sotnikova is the first national champion in single figure skating. This is truly a "prodigy" figure skating, because at the age of thirteen Adelina Sotnikova easily performed the most complex tricks that even adults find difficult. Many are interested in her personal life, since this young athlete has a beautiful appearance. The biography and secrets of the personal plan will be described in this article.

Figure skater childhood

Adelina Sotnikova was born in the Russian capital in 1996. She was premature and weak, having been born at seven months of age. But immediately after her birth, the girl was able to show everyone the personal strength of her will. Because she was able not only to continue her life, but also to become strong and healthy. This was the first victory over the forces of nature. And it was symbolic.

In the 2017 photo she looks like a real beauty. “Blood with milk”, the young winner and the pride of our sport. Even President Putin himself did not hesitate to take a photo with the star. This was a great reward for the young skater.

Adelina Sotnikova in childhood

The girl's ancestors are famous. Great-grandfather - Alexander Vasilyevich Kochetkov - Hero of the USSR, fighter pilot. Adeline’s dad is a policeman and served for some time in the criminal investigation department. Mom was involved in acrobatics, but an injury prevented her from continuing in this sport.

When the girl was only four years old, it was decided to send her to figure skating. She studied at the Biryulevskaya sports school under the guidance of Anna Patrikeeva. At the age of seven, Adeline moved to the CSK school. There, her coach at first was Irina Goncharenko. Then Elena Buyanova began to train her.

Adeline with her parents

Warm and friendly relations immediately began between Elena and Adeline. The coach was so able to reveal the talent of the young figure skater that at the age of twelve the girl became the national champion. By the way, the ward repeated her coach’s victory. She received the title of champion at the same age.

Then Adeline promised President Putin that she would win the Olympics. This happened five years later.

Sports career

At the age of eleven, the young athlete took part in the Russian Figure Skating Championships for the first time. Then her work brought tenth place. But after a year of active, hard training, Adeline was already able to become a champion. This is a considerable merit, both to the coach and to the skater herself.

The young champion’s program included complex elements: triple jumps and spins. Even adult athletes sometimes find it difficult to do this. By the way, Adeline spent the money that Adeline received a decent amount for her victory on the treatment of her younger sister, who has been suffering from a serious illness since childhood.

Her coach had already participated in the European Championships at the age of 13. But a lot has changed since then. Children under 14 years of age were not allowed to participate in international competitions.

Evgeni Plushenko and Adelina Sotnikova on the ice

In 2009, Adeline won the national junior championship. But in the following seasons, failure awaited her: only fourth place at the national championship and sixth place at the junior championship.

In 2010 and 11, Adeline was able to win the European Junior Championships. The following year she participated in Olympic Games among young people. There she received a silver medal.

The girl achieved such success that at the age of sixteen she was awarded the title of Master of Sports of International Class. And two years later she became an Honored Master of Sports. Secondary school Adeline graduated as an external student. Then she entered the University of Physical Education and Sports with the goal of becoming a trainer.

Winter Games in Sochi

From Winter Olympics in Sochi in 2014, Adelina Sotnikova expected a lot. She did not take part in the team tournament. In the short program she took second place thanks to her emotional dance “Carmen”. And in the free program the athlete became first!

Russia has never taken first place in women's single skating at the Olympic Games! At first, everyone predicted victory for the figure skater from Korea. However, Sotnikova's performance turned out to be more difficult. So she walked around the Korean woman. Representatives of Korea were outraged and even sent a letter of protest.

Adelina won first place at the Winter Olympics in Sochi

Russian President Vladimir Putin even awarded the winner the Order of Friendship. This is probably the youngest recipient of such an award in history.

Further activities

In 2014, the athlete suffered a serious leg injury. This prevented her from competing. But the girl did not lose heart. She began to take part in television projects. She first performed on Dancing with the Stars. Together with Gleb Savchenko, Adelina took second place.

Then the skater participated in the popular show “Ice Age”. Her partner was Alexander Sokolovsky. They won in 2016. Interestingly, the young people became friends during the performance. They continued to be friends after participating in the project.

A. Sotnikova with Vladimir Putin

Adelina Sotnikova broke up with her coach Elena Buyanova, with whom she had so much in common. Now her new coach– famous figure skater and multiple champion Evgeni Plushenko. There is also information that the athlete will soon take part in a new project by Pyotr Chernyshov.

Rumors recently appeared that Adelina Sotnikova has a personal desire to quit sports. They are based on the fact that she recently had a serious leg injury. However, in 2017, according to latest news it became known that this was not true. She promises to return to big-time sports as soon as possible.

Personal life

Adelina Sotnikova is a very pretty girl. Therefore, many fans are interested in her personal life, information about whether she is married. You can reassure them by saying that the athlete is not yet legally married. And there is no information yet about how soon she plans to change the status of her life.

But some are wondering if her heart is occupied by a young man. This question can be answered unequivocally. Beautiful girl considers himself too young to get married. But she has someone she's in love with.

With Alexander Molochko

Adelina Sotnikova is credited with a whirlwind romance with Maxim Kovtun. There is most likely some truth in this, since in social networks There are photos of them together. There were even rumors that young people were ready to soon enter into legal marriage. True or not, this rumor is a thing of the past.

Adelina Sotnikova’s new chosen one is a young, handsome, cheerful man, Alexander Molochko. He is known to many from the popular TV show “Magazzino,” of which he is the host. At numerous social parties, Adeline and Alexander appear together, holding hands. They didn't even try to hide their feelings.

Adelina Sotnikova and Artemy Shulgin

Many even claimed that the young people were engaged. But this relationship also seemed to have a sad end. Again, if you believe the rumors, Alexander turned out to be unfaithful to his beloved. After this, she bitterly decided to leave forever. But in his interview with the press, Alexander said that he was not very upset about this and assured that he had long ago realized that they were too different people, have different temperaments and interests. And that it was a little hard for them together.

According to the latest data, the athlete is currently dating the son of the famous singer Valeria, Artemy Shulgin.

Why did the return to sports take so long and is this return possible in the future, the former coach of the Olympic champion discusses.

INTERLOCUTORS OF Elena VAITSEKHOVSKAYA

Three years ago, Adelina Sotnikova said in an interview that she always wanted to understand: what is it about an Olympic victory that makes very young athletes leave sports and refuse further struggle. “I knew for sure when I won that I didn’t want to leave anywhere. And I certainly don’t want to leave the way Tara Lipinski did,” she said then.

She did not return, although she changed her coach - she left, notifying the Figure Skating Federation that she did not intend to part with amateur sports.

We met with her former mentor during the summer preparations for the Olympic season, for which Buyanova is preparing two athletes at once - Elena Radionova and Maria Sotskova. We met to talk about Sotnikova.

LIMIT OF TRUST

- When an athlete decides to change his coach, this is always preceded by some kind of cooling of relations, distance from each other. Did your ward leave for Plushenko as a surprise to you, or did you, alone, understand that this was what was going on?

It’s just that nothing happens in life at all. Perhaps the first moment that, in a certain sense, crippled me as a coach was the injury that Adeline suffered during the 2015 season. This has never happened to us before serious injuries, never at all. Sotnikova was always not only disciplined and efficient, but also very well-pumped - she simply did not have a single weak point in her body. Problems began to arise after interruptions in training began. Adelina was constantly invited to all sorts of events, I didn’t resist this too much, but I always repeated: you yourself must understand what you want. And she kept answering me that she wanted to ride.

As a coach, I clearly saw what and how I could do next with Adeline. But a year later I began to notice that some moments were starting to not only irritate me, but...

- Would you like more certainty?

First of all. It’s not for me to tell you what kind of regime an athlete has to constantly live in in order to remain competitive. Instead, we have a little chaos. We jointly came to the decision that it is necessary to start performing at least in minor competitions, we set a very good programs. Of course, it was hard for Adeline. She dialed excess weight, not very much, but this caused my back to hurt when under load. Nevertheless, she really prepared and wanted to perform. The theme of “Ice Age” did not arise spontaneously in her life. I knew that Sotnikova was constantly invited there and offered big money. Moreover, we discussed all this with her and, as it seemed to me, we closed the topic. Remember when we talked about how difficult it is for an Olympic champion to find new motivation? During that period, I constantly thought about it. And she was very happy when we approved plans for the upcoming season with the leadership of the FFKKR after the September skates: it was not I who said that she wants to skate, wants to participate in competitions, but Adeline herself.

We approved the plans, and literally two days later, when we returned from Sochi to Moscow, Adelina said that she was going to perform in “Ice Age.” For me, this became... well, this was probably the final point. You know, the limit of trust is a limit because it has its limits.

“We didn’t think that a significant part of what happened could be your fault.” Maybe at some right moment you simply weren’t near the student, didn’t say some words that were important to her, didn’t show toughness, finally?

I thought about that. That perhaps I needed to put pressure, force. And I gave the athlete the opportunity to do what she wanted, and this, of course, is my fault. But I couldn’t do anything differently then - I saw how much Adeline liked it all. After all, for too many years she was completely deprived of the opportunity to live a normal life, to do what she wanted. She is very good girl, very kind, attentive, responsive. As one of our coaches once said, you can put Sotnikova on wounds - and the wounds will heal. You just know how it happens: you walked and walked and walked towards the goal, reached it and gave yourself some slack. It seems like nonsense: you will take a step back at the right moment and you will be back in your old life. And this is not at all true.

SHOW MUST GO ON AND TRIPLE AXEL

- At the beginning of our conversation, you said that you clearly understood where to move next with Sotnikova. What exactly were your plans for this?

Adelina has very great technical potential. It was possible to twist a quadruple sheepskin coat with it - the only question was that the body was ready.

- Why a quadruple toe loop and not a triple axel?

We also tried Axel, although this was before the Games in Sochi. Adeline performed this jump well, but her sheepskin coat always went better. So I thought that it might be easier to add one more turn to the sheepskin coat. Moreover, Sotnikova herself was, as they say, focused on this idea. In addition, I always wanted her to stand out because of her skating - that’s why I sent her to dance on the floor when her leg healed after an injury. Adeline is very active, she has been taking jazz classes since childhood, and she can do everything. Since childhood, she has performed at all our events, that is, she was constantly on stage. All the directors who had the opportunity to work with her were invariably amazed at how quickly she grasped everything - she never had to explain anything for a long time. Therefore, I always knew that Adeline would not get lost in life. I just wanted her to take a different path instead of ending up with what she’s doing now.

On the other hand, I am still happy that I was able to raise an athlete who, in addition to achieving great results, remains in demand in the profession and can continue to develop in this profession. Then everything depends only on how much Adeline herself wants it. This is already her path.

- Not long ago I talked about the Games in Sochi with one of the participants in the “golden” team tournament, who said that the show is a double-edged sword. You seem to be skating the same way, getting new experiences, but the feeling of easy money greatly changes your consciousness. The athlete begins to quickly understand that training is hard, long, dreary and with an unpredictable outcome. But in the show everything is simple and clear: skate and go to the box office.

There are shows where by performing you seem to prolong training process and develop. This is how the same Japanese treat performances in shows - they skate programs with all the jumps. Why, after an injury, did I send Sotnikova to dance on the floor? So that she does not sit still, but works at full capacity. This made recovery faster, Adeline changed on the ice, became completely different. And then I told her many times: if you perform in a show, make the show difficult for yourself, complicate the programs, overcome yourself, otherwise it will be much more difficult to come back. We have a lot of girls.

- Where, in your opinion, was the line beyond which Sotnikova could decide for herself that returning to a high level was impossible?

Athletes, as a rule, do not understand such things. Leaving sports, taking a step into the unknown is always very difficult - like falling into an abyss. You will never do this yourself, unless you are simply pushed into this abyss. I saw many athletes pass before my eyes who seemed to be ready to finish skating and still couldn’t take the last step and kept coming back. There are few who immediately switched to new life. You're absolutely right: when a show becomes too much, it becomes corrupting. Athletes stop being demanding of themselves. They stop understanding that if you go on the ice as an Olympic champion, you must live up to it.

- Do you want to say that this is exactly what happened to Adeline to some extent?

Unfortunately...

DISCOMFORT ZONE

- When your mentee Maxim Kovtun went to Inna Goncharenko, you talked about how painful it is to see another mentor next to “your” athlete every day. Now the opposite situation is evident: you agreed to take Elena Radionova, knowing full well that Goncharenko would experience the same feelings. Why did you need this?

I didn’t take Radionova in retaliation. She asked to join the group herself and said that she was ready to work. We were not talking about some third-party athlete. Lena grew up at our school, in many ways before my eyes, I know what kind of fighter she is, how she can skate. Whatever one may say, this is our school, our children.

- When Kovtun left, I don’t remember you thinking from the position of “our school, our children, and what difference does it make anyway who he skates with?”

As the head of the CSKA team, I could just make sure that this transition did not take place. Yes, it was hard for me. But, if my athlete himself made such a choice, why should I interfere?

- Did you agree to take Radionova in right away?

No, I thought about it a lot. What I liked was that Lena absolutely did not try to relieve herself of the guilt for spending it this way. previous season. A coach is not God, even the most brilliant one. The athlete must be responsible for his own preparation to the same extent.

- Didn’t you have any fears that Maria Sotskova, with whom you worked for a whole year, might have her own reaction to this? That she might, relatively speaking, freak out and leave to look for more comfortable conditions?

We hardly have athletes now who have the moral right to set any strict conditions for the coach. In any case, I don’t really understand this position. It is clear that Sotskova was in some discomfort, especially since immediately after the European Championships the topic was widely discussed that she would be replaced in the national team with Lena. This was constantly talked about out loud. But I think that this story only strengthened Masha, and I don’t see anything wrong with that. Well, Javier Fernandez is training with Yuzuru Hanyu - have they both become worse because of this? The same Eteri Tutberidze’s girls also skate side by side. Alina Zagitova, one might say, grew up “under Medvedeva,” and she grew up under Yulia Lipnitskaya.

You asked about Sotskova, but it’s not a fact that Radionova feels comfortable next to her. Lena stepped not into a simple situation, but into the very thick of it, knowing full well that no one would deal with her alone. If we compare these two athletes now, it is more difficult for Lena, because the year was essentially missed, she needs to make up for it, and this is a lot of work. But it's interesting. When an athlete is small and just starting to win, it’s such work, work, work, work. That is, purely sport's event: first toe loop, first axel, first lutz, then cascades - the basis that is the same for everyone. And here you can start decorating the programs. How to decorate a Christmas tree with toys.

NOT TO CATCH UP, BUT TO CHASE

- For the last two years, the figure skating world has been talking exclusively about the fact that Russia has Zhenya Medvedeva and she is invincible. This position, it seems to me, discourages many athletes from even thinking that they can win against Medvedeva. What about the coaches? You probably also sometimes think that it’s impossible to defeat Medvedev?

Do you suggest sitting and waiting for Zhenya to finish skating? Well, someone else will appear. If an athlete has managed to earn a reputation as invincible, this always earns respect from me as a coach. Because I know better than anyone else how to work for this. My task is to make sure that my athletes compete with the leader, want it, and not just compete with him on the same ice. I really liked Shoma Uno's interview not too long ago, where he said that he enjoys being a stalker. It’s really cool when a person feels not like he’s catching up, but like a pursuer.

It is clear that those who become leaders set a certain standard for the world. But this does not mean that this bar cannot be jumped. A leader is one who wants more, works harder, overcomes himself more. That's why such people become the first. When an athlete begins to be content with what he has, he turns into an average peasant. To be honest, I don’t really understand why I work so hard to be average. I'm not even talking about myself now. In the end, coaching is my profession, which I quite consciously chose for myself in mature age. But I always try to get it into the heads of everyone who skates with me: when you are average, you are nobody. That’s probably why I’m so demanding - I’ve walked this whole path many times and I know how scary it is to end a career when there’s emptiness inside and a feeling of one’s own unfulfillment. The same Medvedeva now has a big task - to make sure that they never catch up with her. We need to become even better, even more interesting. Although someone is probably thinking: “Well, where else can she grow? Why?”

- How serious do you think Canadians Caitlin Osmond and Gabriela Dallman are for her?

I like them both: powerful, jumping, very femininely mature, and this is a big plus. This kind of skating has always appealed to me: I love it when the amplitude of the jump is not just large, but huge. So both can be very dangerous at the Olympics. You definitely shouldn't underestimate them.

- Speaking of the Games: you can’t help but understand that, no matter how selflessly Sotskova and Radionova work, in the conditions of the current competition in women’s single skating, both of them may not qualify for the team?

Any coach should be prepared for this. I just want my athletes not to miss the chances they get. In fact, we work in order not to miss them. A year ago, for example, many doubted that Sotskova could even get to the Grand Prix final - I saw great skepticism in the eyes of those around her. But Masha herself said when we approved the plans at the FFKKR: “I’ll get there!” When she started training, I must admit, I was shocked by her determination. And I immediately believed that this girl would really make it. Then there was the Russian Championship, for which Masha prepared like crazy.

- And then she just didn’t have enough strength?

I would say that she just “breathed out” a little when she joined the national team. But we had objective moments. In the winter, Masha was very sick for two weeks, and she was, of course, pressured by the thought that she could be changed at any moment. Somewhere I lacked strength and experience. Despite the fact that she is very well trained technically, she needs to work much more than other athletes - she is tall.

LEAVING GO?

- Do you admit at least a tiny possibility that Sotnikova will want to skate again and ask to join your group?

What does it mean to want to ride? According to her, she wants. Getting ready for performances.

- Despite the fact that when you came to Evgeni Plushenko, you immediately suffered a torn ligament?

The injury has nothing to do with it, although it was indeed severe. When an athlete makes a statement to the press about new programs and plans, but does not abandon all parallel “events,” it becomes clear that plans for a comeback should at least not be taken seriously. It just doesn't happen in sports.

- But you are still offended that Adelina informed you about her departure to Plushenko by sending an SMS.

I don’t hide the fact that I’m offended. But it's not that. I just know Adeline too well, maybe even better than her mother. In some things she remained a small child. This is generally characteristic of great athletes: they are sacredly confident that they achieve everything themselves. They don’t understand and don’t want to understand that the result is often just a consequence of the fact that the coach has been pushing, pushing, pushing you forward for many years, dragging you where you couldn’t go on your own. When Adeline and I started having all this uncertainty in our relationship, she once said: “It will be hard for you with me.” I grinned: “Do you think things have ever been easy with you?”

At one time it seemed to me that there was nothing new for me in figure skating. That there will never be more difficult athletes than those with whom I have already worked, and with all subsequent ones everything will be much simpler. And then someone else comes to you, and you realize that they are all different. That you can’t take a person and just work with him like a carbon copy. At least I can't do that. With each one you gain something, some new experience. And because of this, you move forward.

As for “returning”, we have already experienced and passed all this. As I said, I just ran out of trust. I didn’t love Adeline any less, she is still dear to me as an athlete, with whom we have come a long and difficult way, but there is no limit. We almost never saw each other Last year because of all these shows, and I will never train an athlete in my free time from the show. I can no longer believe that Adeline really wants to return. I don't think it would be right to continue to deceive myself and her in this regard.

- Maybe everything is much simpler? Maybe Sotnikova, knowing your exactingness and how high you always set the bar, was simply afraid that she would not be able to meet? Agree, it’s not so easy to return to a group where another athlete is gaining shape with all her might and where you will feel your own inferiority every day. There is, after all, self-love.

It seems to me that deep down she really couldn’t share me with Masha. She expected me to leave everyone for her sake.

- AND?

And I'll make her ride.

28 August 2017, 14:27

Sochi 2014 Olympic champion in women's single skating, Russian figure skater Adelina Sotnikova will miss the 2017/18 season due to injury, the athlete's coach Evgeni Plushenko told the R-Sport agency.

Immediately after her victory in Sochi, Sotnikova refused to go to the 2014 World Championships. Adeline was going to compete at the stages of the Grand Prix series in figure skating, but again she couldn’t. The athlete missed the next 2014/15 season due to a leg injury. In February 2015, Adeline took part in “Dancing on Ice” with Gleb Savchenko, and there the couple took 2nd place, winning the audience award.

Their best numbers (in my opinion):

In the 2015/16 season, after a break of one and a half years, Sotnikova announced her triumphant return. She appeared at the Mordovian Ornament competition, where she took 2nd place, losing to her compatriot Anya Pogorilaya. Sotnikova was also third at the only stage of the Grand Prix series in which she took part - in Moscow. Her skating has really filled out and blossomed - it has become more fluid, artistic and feminine.

Then many, including me, believed that Sotnikova was ready to fight. Her look spoke for itself.

Adeline’s programs were excellent, and she improved even more in gliding and artistry.

Her Latin is one of my favorites. It was at this tournament, without visible blots, with sparkle and drive:

But at the 2015 Russian Championship in Yekaterinburg she takes 6th place and does not make it into the Russian team along with Yulia Lipnitskaya and Liza Tuktamysheva.

Having staged new programs and announced her intentions to win competitions, Sotnikova unexpectedly missed the 2016/17 season, while taking part in the TV show “Ice Age” from October to December 2016, in which she won together with actor Alexander Sokolovsky.

I didn’t follow their dances, but one number still stuck in my soul:

In April 2017, it was announced that Sotnikova would end her collaboration with Buyanova and would move to two-time Olympic champion Evgeni Plushenko, who began his coaching career. On the programs for the new season, Sotnikova also worked with Canadian choreographer Emanuel Sandhu. The athlete intended to perform at the test skates of the Russian national team skaters, which will be held on September 9-10, 2017.

On August 23, 2017, it became known that the fit Sotnikova, like her “colleague” Yulia Lipnitskaya, would not take part in the test skates.

A little later it became known that Sotnikova would miss the entire 2017/18 season.

“Adelina Sotnikova will not compete this season due to injury. We all hoped that we would heal this injury, but unfortunately it did not work out. The injury still worries me, I can’t do full training, and it’s wrong to enter competitions in such a situation,”– said the athlete’s coach Evgeni Plushenko.

After a storm arose online, Plushenko said that the athlete was not going to end her career, despite the pass current season due to injury.

“Missing a season does not mean the end of your career. Now we need to cure the injury, which still exists due to the fact that, unfortunately, the diagnosis was incorrectly made. Adeline has not recovered, and this damage worries her. She had a torn ankle ligament and a broken bone in her foot. Initially, they thought that Adeline would quickly recover from this injury. Initially, they didn’t put a plaster cast, and in general a completely different diagnosis was made.”

The best comment, in my opinion, was given by Tatyana Anatolyevna Tarasova:
“I love Adeline very much. She skates very beautifully. But now it’s completely different for women single skating. It will never come out, I don’t believe it. I wish I was wrong, but unfortunately I am always right about this. I would love to see Adeline, but unfortunately the reality is that she won't make it.

I don't play these games anymore. It’s Plushenko and Sotnikova who play them, but I don’t. I'm not interested. I am a serious person, I understand what sports, training, and competitions are. And I don't understand why they play. They outstanding athletes, Olympic champions. Why, if she skates well, if she has her own show, if they have their own school? What can you expect when they skate completely differently now?

We look forward to the future. And I don't see Adeline there. It's just kind of funny. I can’t talk more about this topic, it’s funny to me. How many years have we waited for Zhenya, now wait for Adeline? This is not serious"

By the way, from the very beginning Tarasova was very skeptical about the new collaboration between Plushenko and Sotnikov:

"Wait and see", said Tarasova.

“I am very glad that Evgeniy started working as a coach. Who else but Olympic champions pass on the accumulated experience to the next generation. As for Adeline and their collaboration, if this is not a PR campaign, but a serious decision, then, in my opinion, they are too late with it. The fact is that Adeline will have to go through many pre-season competitions, returning from the very bottom to the leading positions, since she is currently not in the rankings. And in order to be in it, you need to devote at least a year to it.”

From an interview former coach Elena Buyanova(May 2017):

“I practically didn’t see Adeline all last season. I found out where she was from the Internet. It’s a shame that she announced her decision by phone, sending an SMS. Knowing her, I understand - yes, it’s easier for her. But in life you need to be able to overcome yourself.

As for the resumption of a sports career, this is a pointless conversation for now. As far as I know, from the words of the athlete herself, she is now injured, and I think that she has not yet started training on the ice.

I don’t presume to say, but they say that Zhenya’s skating rink is non-standard, and this is bad for an athlete of this level. I can’t say anything about Zhenya as a coach, since for this she needs to train at least one athlete. It’s too early to speculate what his school is, because the school is the coaches and the results of the students, and here everything is just beginning.

Adeline wants to return. But he’s been wanting it for three years now. Zhenya wants to try it. But for now this is all in words. God willing, if they succeed, I will be glad. Pyotr Chernyshev, Irina Tagaeva, and I did our job, gave the girl a profession, and taught her a lot. Time will tell how Adeline will manage this.”

Left a comment and Alexander Zhulin:

“I don’t know yet how Evgeniy will show himself from the point of view coaching work because this is not an easy matter. And immediately take the Olympic champion... I don’t even know how to comment.

I'm very interested to see how things work out for them. The only thing is that breaking equipment can lead to both good and sad consequences. If Evgeniy has the wisdom not to break it too much, but only to make amendments, then everything can work out,”- said Zhulin.

And here Plushenko was optimistic:

“Adeline started training after the injury and is ready to move on. Our plans include test skates for the Russian national team, where we must appear so that our work can be assessed by the federation and specialists. It is necessary. We really want to have time to do everything, fully recover and come to Sochi in September to demonstrate a completely short and free program. This is both my plan and Adeline’s plan. She had a small fracture in her foot; unfortunately, at the beginning of our work, her ankle ligaments were damaged. We had barely started training when this happened. Now we are ready and believe in ourselves. She will return to the national team and perform at the highest level. Adelina is a great fellow, a great athlete and a great smart girl.”

Adelina is not in the ratings, but I also went through this. Let's try together, the main thing is not to rush. Life flies by very quickly. The athlete must have good conditions. Adeline we will create them.
She has been riding with us for two weeks now. Due to the fact that Adeline won the Olympics early, she will be able to skate after 2018. She is ready to plow, train, only working moments remain. I see her anger, excitement,”
- said Plushenko.

“Many wrote that this was a PR move. I don’t need PR, and neither does Adeline. It’s her decision, I didn’t lure anyone away.”

Was an optimist Ilya Averbukh:

“We are now working a lot together with Adeline. She performed in the television project “Ice Age” and played in my play “The Nutcracker”. Now she has to demonstration performances. And, of course, I asked her more than once about whether she would return to big-time sports or not.

And here’s what Adeline recently told me: “Now I’ll get rid of all my affairs and start preparing for the next season. I want to get back into sports for real. Don’t just unfoundedly announce a return, but return.”

Adeline wants to confirm the title of Olympic champion, and the athlete plans to fight to get into the Olympics in South Korea. Adeline intends to take part in the Russian Championship, which will determine who will go to the 2018 Games.

Adeline understands perfectly well what awaits her, but Sotnikova still has a hunger for victories, despite the Olympic gold. And then, Adelina is only 20 years old, she is very young, and her break was not that long. What's so complicated about it? Everything depends on her!”- said Averbukh.

Ari Zakarian, manager of Olympic champion Adelina Sotnikova, said that the figure skater will prepare for the Olympic season.

“She began summer training, as in previous years, but some minor health difficulties arose, and therefore a decision was made not to speed up further technical training.

She's rolling in short program", said Zakarian.

The very same Sotnikova reported that she was taking part in children's competition models: “We’re shooting a new children's project"top mini models". Such beauties here, such smart girls! You look and it pleases the eye that children have been searching for themselves since childhood and developing. Thanks to Yana Rudkovskaya for participating in this project as a jury."

At the same time, she gave an interview on Channel One’s program “ Good morning", which was perceived as ridicule:

“I will strive for new heights, I want to become not a one-time, but a multiple Olympic champion, to be an example. Sports and sports achivments- this is happiness for me. I will start my birthday with a regular workout, and in the evening I will see my friends.”

In the summer, Adele took part in the MUZ-TV award ceremony and in the show of the Italian designer STELLA CASTELLO:

Prior to this, her name was mainly mentioned in gossip columns in connection with the scandal of hacking her account, where she did not pay her PR person for the page, and he published an appeal to her fans with the intention of exposing her to clean water; with Alexander Molochko and a new relationship with Valeria’s son.

She also won in the “Most Stylish” category according to HELLO.RU:
“I was chosen as the most stylish woman of the year according to Hello. This is incredibly pleasant,” Sotnikova wrote on Twitter.

Adeline was a judge in the “Children on Ice” project:

“Children on the ice. Stars" is a wonderful project! It is difficult to judge such people, but what to do? I have my favorites, whom I will follow and root for. Your love is unreal! It was so nice to see your shining eyes that said everything for you! Move on! Our country will need new heroes!”

She starred in the video of the group "Degrees" together with Rudkovskaya, starred in "Alone with Everyone", took part in many programs and ceremonies, including "Blue Light" on the First.

She recently posted this on Instagram:
If I ever decide to make a song, I already have the cover. All that remains is to write and sing the song. well, implement what was written, turn it into reality, so to speak.

Adeline is my personal pain. I fell in love with her artistry, skating, charisma, dedication after Sochi, and what a disappointment it was later. Her long-awaited medal is dimming because of this circus of show-offs, empty talk, and eternal promises. It would have been more honest to end my career back then, in Sochi, or to fight to the end. Her story proves how short it can be sport life. And that while you are distracted, doubtful or give in, there will always be someone younger and angrier who needs the coveted place at the top more.

The winners will be different. And thank God.

Adelina Sotnikova: “Now the main thing for me is to get back on the ice”

Outstanding figure skater, Olympic champion of Sochi 2014 Adelina Sotnikova, recognized this year as “The Most Stylish” according to the HELLO.RU website at the “Most Stylish in Russia” ceremony, spoke about her plans to return to big-time sports after an injury, about her personal life and love to decorations.

First, a dizzying rise and victory at the Olympics, and then an injury and a forced pause of several seasons. Adeline talks about that period without drama and very sincerely - however, when necessary, she knows how to control herself perfectly. Either she seems very young and open, then she suddenly transforms and insists on her own in a firm, quiet voice. She maintains her athletic concentration in front of the camera, including an Olympic smile at the right moments, and at the same time, she is girlishly happy when she is offered to try on a red dress: “That’s my color!”

Adeline, when do you feel most comfortable?

When I am active, when I go towards my goal. There are many such girls around me - they live their lives to the fullest, achieve what they want, and this is very inspiring. If I set a goal for myself, then I am ready to give up everything for it. I missed several seasons due to injury, and now the main thing for me is to get back on the ice.

Such a goal truly requires complete dedication. What about your personal life?

You always have to choose, and this moment my choice is to give myself to sports. I don’t know yet how I will combine it with my personal life. And I don’t know whether the person who is next to me will go with me to the end. But I'm not rushing things. Time will show. And, after all, I'm only 20 years old!

When I hear your reasoning, it seems that you have more.

Sometimes it seems like that to me too. I often talk about this with my mother. So much has happened to me: betrayals, breakups, ups, and dark streaks... It’s as if I’ve been living for at least half a century. And for many at this age, life is just beginning!

Speaking of a bad streak, do you mean injuries after winning the Olympics?

Of course, that too. At first it was very difficult: you train, make plans - and suddenly one day everything collapses. A ligament rupture, a cast - and complete uncertainty lies ahead. At first I was completely devastated. What's next? Will I be able to go on the ice again? Work pulled me out: I continued to go to figure skating school, coached children, and practiced myself. That is, she remained active.

Have you trained while wearing a cast?

Yes, in a cast - on the floor. Thanks to this, the healing process went faster. But when the plaster was removed, it became clear that we had to start all over again: there were no muscles, the ligaments were not pumped...

Why did you decide to take part in “Dancing with the Stars” and in Ilya Averbukh’s ice show?

This helped me keep myself in good shape, support myself mentally and physically. I learned again to cope with internal pressures and overcome fear of public - after all, I had long break. Although no show can compare with big sports. When you step on the ice during competitions, you see in front of you huge hall and you understand that you must now overcome your anxiety, turn the audience and judges in your direction - this is a very special drive!

Are you open-minded? Do you make contact with people easily?

First, of course, I take a closer look - what kind of person he is, what he wants from me. In general, I know how to find a common language with people. But if I quickly make contact and communicate casually on various topics, this does not mean that I will open up completely.

At the Olympics you amazed everyone with your “Carmen”. How did you manage to enter the image of a sophisticated, passionate woman?

I love playing strong characters. It’s interesting for me to let their stories pass through me and add something of my own. It’s the same with Carmen: I didn’t set myself the goal of showing the passion of an adult woman, I wanted to create my own image - the way I felt it. And I think I succeeded.

How do you feel when you have to appear somewhere in a floor-length evening dress?

This doesn’t happen often, but when I have to go out like this, I view it as a kind of task: so, today I need to look presentable. I choose a hairstyle, a dress, and then I get involved and enjoy the process.

What kind of jewelry do you like?

I love rings, earrings, bracelets, especially when I go out to serious events. PANDORA really likes the idea - I can assemble my own jewelry!

That is, here too you prefer to act yourself! Have you already thought about what you will do next?

Certainly. I admit that someday I will work as a coach, I already have experience. I really want to go study acting - this is the dream of my life. But for now I’m drawn to the ice!

Adelina Sotnikova cannot return to her sports career due to an injury she suffered last year during training. Note that the skater missed the season, but she is not going to end her career completely. She has big plans ahead.

Olympic champion Adelina Sotnikova missed the games in South Korea this year. All because of an ankle ligament injury that she received last year in training. After that injury, the girl continued to go to rentals and train.

Emotional stress greatly affected the girl, so she accelerated her preparation for the competition, trying to achieve quick results. She ended up suffering three more minor injuries. During training, she twisted her leg more than once, which led to regression in recovery.

Despite everything, the athlete is going to compete in small competitions. In order to return to big-time sports, she needs to prove that her health is good. Adeline said that she is going to perform at the twenty-fourth Winter Olympic Games.

Despite her difficulties in life, Adeline is mentally prepared for performances, so she continues to prepare for big competitions. It is worth noting that she underwent treatment in Germany, receiving qualified assistance.

After several injuries, doctors initially misdiagnosed her. At first, doctors believed that the athlete had sprained her ligaments, after which they decided that she had a tear and fracture of a small bone in her foot.

It still remains unknown whether Sotnikova will be able to fully recover and begin preparing for big competitions. Last year she switched to another coach, stopping working with Elena Buyanova. Now she trains with Evgeni Plushenko.

Under the guidance of a new coach, the girl took part in shows in Italy and Japan. However, during performances she does not yet do jumping, so as not to interfere with the recovery of her leg.

Since childhood, Adeline has been distinguished by a quiet and calm character. She never argued with her mentor, and always strictly followed all the recommendations, which largely determined her success in the future.

The girl mastered many tricks that only adults could do, and was able to bring them to automaticity. Adelina's start was the championship Russian Federation in 2007-2008. Here she received tenth place among juniors. A year later she already became the first.

The next season was not so brilliant for her. The girl received fourth place at the Russian Federation Championship. However, her a strong character and the coach’s persistence did not allow the girl to give up.

Adeline trained persistently and gradually complicated her program. Glory fell in 2010-2011, when Sotnikova became the first in the Grand Prix final among juniors. Previously, she won both stages of the competition. This was followed by victories at the national and world championships.

She passed all subjects at school with B grades, but she was happy with these results, as she had to pass the program in two years. It was difficult for the girl to study, although at that time there was only one training session a day.

Adeline's whole life is connected with figure skating. She has a very busy schedule, big plans, so she always needs to train hard. Her friends are almost exclusively athletes, because it’s easier to understand each other this way. In order to be happy, Sotnikova has enough good night on a day off and a cake in a cafe with a friend.

The girl has a very close relationship with her mother. My sister has health problems. She had three operations, which required a lot of money. In many ways, this was the motivation of the talented skater. Tarasova helped a lot, she found a sponsor company that paid the expenses.

Sotnikova herself spends little time with her family, but she understands how difficult it is for her parents.
